i have just discovered the stereoscopsis research of bella julesz  and his random dot imagery 1971 that was the forefront of auto stereogram he discovered how each eye sees things shifted from the other and when the two images are combined depth percerption is created.

saccades – when the eyes dart from place to place

fixations – when the eye is fixed

the sound of art

June 16, 2009

Metasynth, im interested in image to wave converters, while playing on metasynth a synth pattern programme i had the cool ideas for drawing images composed of waves. Creating image that could be played as wave form and create sound. Im into the idea of a image having sound, the static as form . so after getting xcited on meta synth just thinking how i could create static image that could be read as wave from………………………………………………………This takes me back to previous sound experiment through the tv that gave me the different thicknesses of bar for different frequencies the higher the frequency the thinner the bar….

Metasynth images -drawing sound, i love the look of wave forms , and music programe composing, the idea of working with the abstract blocks of sound to build up  structural images. Although these are just horizontal image the pattern are still cool.

DSC03673DSC03669DSC03821DSC03823My love for found objects continues to grow, trash n treasure is all around, im always picking stuff out the gutter, one day ill find a diamond ring. But truely it comes out of the pieces of technology that you find lying around. Plastic shapes that were once a part of some technology broken. Industrial parts are like these really great artifacts of culture that often have really great shape and design….They definatly are an inspiration to find find a part of something that is nolonger recognisable to wat it origanly was. I want to incorporate this into my art somehow, even ifim taking the shapes that i find because they look interesting and can be symbolic somehow.DSC03633

repeat patterns

June 16, 2009

I need to concentrate on doing a repeat pattern and keeping it simple. it shoud just be a simple shape, part of a bigger shape reeated, to get that infinity effect..happpening. This is what i nmust do. data patern ===– c

There are 17 ways you can make a motif into a repeat pattern.

stereo vision!!!!!

June 16, 2009

Ive done some research on stereo scopic images, and how they work to create 3d depth of illusion. I think what im dealing with if depth perception in images

‘Stereo-vision based on parallax allows the brain to calculate depths of objects relative to the point of convergence. It is the convergence angle that gives the brain the absolute reference depth value for the point of convergence from which absolute depths of all other objects can be inferred.’http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autostereogram

‘An autostereogram is a single-image stereogram (SIS), designed to create the visual illusion of a three-dimensional (3D) scene from a two-dimensional image in the human brain. In order to perceive 3D shapes in these autostereograms, the brain must overcome the normally automatic coordination between focusing and vergence.’

AutostereogramTutorial Width Of Pattern

File:Stereogram Tut Width.png

  • Description: The 3D effects in the previous autostereogram were created by repeating the background pattern (the tiger rider icon) every 140 pixels. The second plane displays shark rider icons every 130 pixels. The highest plane displays tiger icons every 120 pixels. The closer a pattern is packed horizontally, the higher is it lifted from the background plane. This distance is referred to as the ‘depth’ or z-axis value of a particular pattern in the stereogram.

Auto stereogram

Im interested in creating 3d wallpaper to explore emmersive aspect of repeated pettern. The idea that wallpaper creates a virtual space for the viewer much like yayoi kusumas infinity rooms. I like the idea of creating hidden images amongst these wallpapers, ultimately 3d, but im not sure if it is patented technology. that is if i can do a similiar thing . will see….. ….. ….. ….. ….. …… …… ….. …. . .. … . .. . … .. . … .. . .. . . .. . . . .. …also because im into these hard out patterned surfaces i would like to see how pattern surfaces and form corressponds with sound. because im interested in composing sound from image compositions or data patterns this could be very interesting…………. Stereo scope

….. …… …… …… … … … … … .. . ….. … … … … … .. … … .. . .. . …. ….. .Yes i feel there is a strong link between pattern aand wave form in terms of creating loops, i want it to go the other way , but im not sure how this can be possible yet, pure data. perhaps.

.. . . .. . . .. . ..  . . . . . . . . . . . . ….. . . ..                   ………….             .          .          .           .

But as the name suggests, stereo vision, its perfect visual sound image. yea

‘Written on a TRS-80 Color Computer in the early 1980’s, this is one of VIR-AND’s earliest demonstrations of digital sound, one that contains only 26 bytes and led to the discovery of omni-musical numbers such as 0.12345678910111213… which predict all future sounds within a known mersenne prime number of digits.’

I love this video fro the early digital sounds Go 1982 ! The colors are cool and the glitch transformation
